2017 Row Crop Short Course – Updated

The 2017 Row Crop Short Course will be held at The Mill Conference Center in Starkville, MS on December 4-6th, 2017.  The program will kick off on Monday, December 4th at 9 am with a cover crop symposium.  Several growers as well as University personnel will present on their experiences and data on cover crop utilization.  The afternoon of Monday, December 4th will focus on entomological issues.

The program continues on Tuesday, December 5th at 8 am with discussions on auxin herbicide issues observed in 2017 as well as a presentation from Mr. Mike McCormick – Mississippi Farm Bureau President.  The Honorable Bill Pigott – Mississippi House of Representatives – Agriculture Chairman will speak at lunch followed by agronomy, soil and water, and nutrient management presentation on Tuesday afternoon.

The morning of Wednesday, December 6th will focus on plant pathology and agricultural economics as well as a presentation by Dr. Bronson Strickland on wildlife management and Mr. Stanley Wise on agri-tourism.

2017 Row Crop Short Course Program

In addition to the presentations listed, personnel from Delta Plastics will be on-hand to assist with implementation of Pipe Planner on grower fields.  If you are not currently using Pipe Planner and are interested in becoming more efficient in your furrow irrigation practices – plan on working with the folks from Delta Plastics to get your fields set up with Pipe Planner.

Row Crop Short Course Registration

All meals are provided free of charge each day of the Row Crop Course.  Mr. Charlie Williams will cater meals once again this year and we will have live music from Ms. Mallory Everett on Monday and Tuesday evenings.  Tuesday evening will be highlighted by our annual steak and shrimp feast and unbeatable fellowship.

Hotel accommodations can be found with the Courtyard, Comfort Suites, Hampton Inn, or Hilton Garden Inn.  Rooms at the Courtyard and Comfort Suites are in very short supply.
