There is some increased interest in Grain Sorghum or milo production in Mississippi this year.  Since Mississippi State University has not conducted Grain Sorghum Hybrid Trials the last several years, I suggest reviewing grain sorghum performance data from the University of Arkansas (http://www.arkansasvarietytesting.com/) and the LSU AgCenter Hybrid Trials (http://www.lsuagcenter.com/en/crops_livestock/crops/Sorghum/Variety+Trials++Recommendations/Performance-of-Grain-Sorghum-Hybrids-in-Louisiana-2010.htm).

Those grain sorghum hybrids yielding consistently well above the mean in dryland trials generally corresponding with Mississippi grain sorghum production areas include:

  • Pioneer 84G62

  • DEKALB DKS54-03

  • Dyna Gro 772B

  • DEKALB DKS54-00
