Mississippi Crop Progress Report: June 12, 2011

Week ending June 12, 2011 Released: 3:00 P.M., June 13, 2011
According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Mississippi, there were 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday, June 12, 2011. Dry weather conditions are affecting row crops across much of the state, but non-irrigated corn appears to be suffering the most. There are reports of corn rolling up from dry conditions. Some scattered showers came through the state on Saturday and Sunday, but we are in need of a good soaking rain. Soil moisture was rated 42 percent very short, 40 percent short, and 18 adequate.
