Preliminary yield data from the 2011 MSU Wheat Variety Trials are now available.  You can download the data as Excel files from http://msucares.com/crops/variety/yield/index.html.

Wheat variety performance may range considerably for different varieties depending upon region, especially for southern or coastal regions of Mississippi, compared to the Delta and North Mississippi.  Consequently, you will likely better assess superior variety adaptiveness and future performance by analyzing data from multiple locations and/or years within a region.

Last year’s Wheat Variety Suggestions for Mississippi growing regions are available at  http://msucares.com/crops/wheat/wheatshortlist2010.pdf.  These suggestions will be updated soon.

Some of the newer varieties which performed particularly well in the Delta region include Dyna Gro Baldwin, USG 3438, Terral TVX8861, and USG 3201.  Several varieties tested for the first time this year from Progeny, Dixie and Agri Maxx yielded exceptionally well also.  For complete results, please download the files from the link noted above.
