Heliothine Trap Catches, July 9, 2026

Bollworm moth pheromone trap catches were up sharply this week in most counties to about average levels for this time of year. These moths likely developed on corn, but corn is now mostly matured past an attractive stage, so cotton and soybeans should be scouted carefully for bollworm eggs and small larvae. Tobacco budworm moths were also found in slightly higher numbers this week in the Delta, and will also contribute to the egg load in cotton and soybeans.
