In Mississippi, the rice water weevil is the most important early to mid season pest in rice. Three years of research have shown that foliar pyrethroid applications provide variable results, and may not always provide acceptable control.
With snow melting and warmer temperatures on the way, burndown should be taking place next week. I have included a video presentation for rice winter weed control. The Rice Seeding Rate Calculator has been uploaded. This is an excel file that will give seeding rates for selected rice varieties. I have uploaded a tutorial video that demonstrates how to use the program. You can download this file or you can click Play in Popup which will give you full streaming video. I also included a rice seeding rate chart which is a pdf version of the information.
